- Occasional advocacy on technology and issues in i-mode.
- A knowledge-base providing access to opinions and trends within the membership, primarily through the website www.imodestrategy.com
- Liaison with NTT DoCoMo on matters of broad interest to content providers.

In addition, and of special interest to Australian content providers, and content providers to Telstra's i-mode service, is our unique analysis of content revenue for i-mode Australia.
Learn how the guided hand of Telstra in managing "my menu", plus the expectation of achieving attractive subscription prices, makes the initial projections and opportunities for content providers appear quite favorable for smaller players and new entrants into i-mode.

First time to the forum - EXCELLENT! thank you...
As creators of TV/Radio and web content for many years now we are experimenting with i-mode viewable content using 'fake' pages created in ASP. (Sorry if I've offended the purists out there)
This is for our weekly pet news service we have run on 180 radio stations via the community radio satellite and the web for the past 3 years and interestingly enough we have a few early adopters!! using the mobiles.
WEB - http://www.pettalkradio.com (Listen Now) -scroll down to news
WAP - http://www.dog-e-data.com.au/wap/petnews.asp
Ok so we have to start somewhere - but have quickly realised we are content providers and not creators of delively platforms / software developers etc.
Would love to hear from genuine developers who want to talk about our many plans incluing services to SE Asia Japan etc. We are already talking with a Japanese 'pet industry' partner about this among other things.
A call to +61+2+9873 2530 or leave a message anytime on (Engin)028 212 3918 and I'll return the call. Alternatively a quick e-mail
Thanks - Brian

I am a new I-mode user having had my NEC handset for a couple of weeks now. As a voice phone the unit is fine but if the financial model and site content is not looked at quickly I feel Telstra are headed for trouble.
A few comments..1. The phone is delivered quite stripped of content so you have to start by downloading some ringtones and wallpaper. Fortunately the first two months are free with Telstra because I have used A$500 worth of data so far with just a few dozen pictures and tones - guess how long I will keep doing that. 2. Most of the I-mode sites supply the wrong size pictures for wallpaper 3. It seems technically impossible to actually email yourself a correct picture for wallpaper because although the specification of a 176x220 pixel jpeg is easy, the Telstra network reduces this so it becomes too small 4. The one miserable game supplied can not be added to except by ongoing subscription. This means that it will cost $5 per month to play Tetris, if you unsubscribe the game stops. No one in their right mind will subscribe to that for long. 5. I am beginning to believe that most of the data charges result from downloading constant menus which are of no value.6. If you go to the normal Telstra mobiles game site (where you can buy a game outright) it will not supply Java games for this Java phone and that smacks just a wee bit of a restrictive practice to me I will repeat what I have said for emphasis...I have used $500 worth of data download just to get a few pictures and ringtones on to a $500 phone. Imagine if some unsuspecting customer continued beyond the free period, or let their children play with it for a weekend.

What are the numbers (Content Providers Revenues) in Austrelia? How do they compare to the numbers in Japan? Can they be projected to i-mode services in Europe (O2 for example)?

Australia mobile software developer and content developer interested in the i-mode business model as it applies to independent software vendor and also independent content developer. Did the registration however a bit confused as to whether I'm correctly registered. Would like to read the i-mode content forum analysis in australia and evaluate potential business opportunities within the i-mode space.
